Lesson Summary
The students will utilize the above map (copies distributed for each), with the SEA worksheets for each fleible group, to complete an analysis of the development of the PA Railroad System and utilize data from prior research (census) to draw conclusions about how the railroad encouraged development in our local area, including the Glen Summit development and overall development in Mountaintop.

First, we will examine through guided instruction/practice the map on the Smart Board. The students will then move to their groups to cooperatively analyze the map and complete one SEA sheet for their group. Upon completion, the whole group will share their results by completing a class SEA on the Smart Board. We will record our conclusions and add to our timeline of events to add to the culiminating project of the development of Mountaintop through the Glen Summit community and the PA railroad.
